They Cage the Animals at Night, Blog #8

Jennings is such a strong and intelligent little boy and his situation, I can imagine only made him stronger.  One thing that I believe really helped him deal with his problems and let him get by was Doggie.  Doggie was his hero like my bear Boo, is mine.  For as long as I can remember, I have always had Boo.   When I was a little girl I never let go of that stuffed animal's paw and the day I did I went crazy.  I was on vacation with my family and we were on our way home from the resort.  I was sitting in the car talking to my mom when I remembered that Boo was on the counter at the resort.  I began to ball and there was no stopping me.  We were also about 5 hours away from the hotel already so there was definitely no way we were going back.  My mom had to make my dad stop the car so she can check if Boo was in the back.... HE WAS!! Someone in my family had put him in the trunk before we all left.  After I found out that it was my uncle I praised him for the rest of the trip.  If it weren't for him Boo would be wit me today.  Boo was my world at the time, like Doggie did with Jennings.  Having this love for a stuffed animal in common with Jennings made me enjoy the story so much more.  It truly was one of the best stories I have ever read.

Love, is one thing that Jennings can always count on having.  Love, is one thing that ANYONE can always count on having. People like Mark, Sister Clair, Martha, Mom, and Doggie will always be in Jennings heart.  Every person in Jennings life has taken an impact on it even if it is not noticeable.  They have helped in one way or another.  Reading about each relationship made me think about everyone in my life that I care for.  Without them I don't know where I would be; they complete the person I am today.

Friendships are very important to people all over.  As the book goes on Jennings meets many different people and creates many different and special relationship with each and every one.  Each person he had encountered has helped in one way or another.  One very important person that has helped him move on was Sister Clair.  She was an angel.  If it weren't for her personality, kindness, and gift (doggie) I don't know where Jennings would be.  She had a large impact on his life along with another friend, Sal.  Sal and Jennings created a very special relationship between them two.  Taking the bus everyday, talking about anything, and making jokes really brought them together.  Sal was like a father figure to Jennings.  He was always supportive and concerned about how he was.  Not only did these two important people show Jennings that they cared but they showed him one of the most magical things on the face of this planet, Love.
"To the world you may be just on person, but to one person you may be the world."

I was so happy while reading about Jennings going to stay at the Fraizers home.  I felt like it was going to be a good change and learning experience for Jennings.  I believe that moving in with the Fraizers help Jennings realize that not everyone were like the Carpenters.  The Fraizers actually cared for Jennings.  If I were Jennings I would love to stay there for a longer period of time because it I think I would be better off there.  Anything I would need or want would be there with no problem.  They gave Jennings anything he needed and even more.  It was a life changing experience.

House to House

While reading about Jennings mother being sent to the hospital with pneumonia made me feel sad and worried for Jennings.  I can just imagine how tough it is, having to jump from home to home especially not knowing the people.  I really hope that Jennings has a good time when he goes to the Frazier's home.  It's very depressing how Jennings was treated while he was staying at the Carpenters' house.  I think that no child should be treated in such a way; it is very frightening and traumatizing.  I am happy that Jennings is giving the Frazier’s a chance and maybe everything will work out this time.

Sibling love is very important to any child.  The day Jennings went back home he reunited with all of his brothers especially Larry.  Larry and Jennings are very close, age -wise which is probably why they get along so well.  Whenever one needs a helping hand or even some cheering up the other is there.  Both really understand each other to a new degree.  You can really see how close their relationship is right after they get together again.  They both run into the room and start telling each other stories from their visits.  Even miles away they know that they belong with each other and always will.  Reading about their relationship makes me wish my brother and I got along a lot better.  Having someone there is always great.

You’re my Hero

Being able to stand up to a bully for someone else is probably one of the most heroic things a person can do but also being a new kid makes the situation even more courageous. When Jennings first cam into the orphanage he had no clue what was going on since his mom just dropped him off and said “I’ll be right back.” After being in the orphanage for a while he started to talk to other kids but mostly to one named Mark.  Jennings thought they were going to be great friends but Mark on the other hand didn’t want to get so attach until Jennings stood up to the bully for him. After he realized what a good person Jennings is they started to get closer when Jennings came back from the Carpenters house. As they started to hang out they grew a friendship that looks to be strong and will never end.  And with their new secret they are even closer.  I felt very proud while reading about Jennings stopping Burch from continuing to bully Mark.  Bullying is a very serious thing that happens all the time and should be prevented everywhere.  Anyone can he a hero.
